Aaron Bibb was a TAA member, steward, and officer during his PhD studies in the English Department from 2002 to 2009. After graduate school, he worked for the American Federation of Teachers-Wisconsin, coordinating a successful faculty union election at UW-La Crosse in 2011 and assisting AFT-Wisconsin members in their organizing and communications responses to Act 10. He rejoined the TAA in 2016 when he began his legal studies. After graduation in May 2019, he will clerk for the Honorable James Peterson in the Western District of Wisconsin, following which he will practice employee-side labor and employment law at Hawks Quindel, S.C. in Madison.
Youbin Kang, a PhD student in the Sociology Department, is a member and co-chair of the TAA Contract Enforcement Committee. She has written about private and public transnational labor governance institutions through a case study of the Bangladeshi garment industry after Rana Plaza. Her dissertation will focus on the effect of public transit unions on implementing automation policies in subways around the world. Prior to graduate school, she worked at the International Labour Organization. She has written about the garment, trucking, and subway sectors for the ILO.
Jonathan Pollack was a bargaining team member, organizer, and officer for the TAA from 1993 to 1995. He holds a PhD from the UW-Madison in History; his dissertation traced the rise and fall of the American Federation of Musicians from 1940 to 1970. Pollack is the co-author of The Voice of the People: Primary Sources on American Labor and Working-Class History, published by Harlan Davidson in 2004. Since 1998, Pollack has been a full-time Instructor in History at Madison Area Technical College.
