Political Mobilization for April 5th Elections

We all know what’s at stake in Wisconsin politics these days. Scott Walker, The Fitzgerald Brothers, and their right-wing sponsors like the Koch Brothers and M&I Bank are trying to eliminate unions and gut all social wages for working people, like healthcare, education and human services.

But we can fight back at the ballot box — among other places. On April 5th, we can elect TAA-endorsed candidates in some critical races.

We’ve endorsed Joanne Kloppenburg for Supreme Court, in her campaign taking on Walker ally/hack David Prosser. A vote for Kloppenburg is a vote against Walker. We’ve endorsed Joe Parisi, a staunch Walker opponent in the Assembly, for Dane County Executive. A vote for Parisi is a vote against Walker. Notice a pattern?

We’re going to win these races to stop the Walker agenda in its tracks and to send a message. But we can’t just vote ourselves and hope for the best on April 5th. We need you to be involved. The TAA is running a voter contact program to identify and turn out union household voters for Kloppenburg and Parisi. We need you to contribute your time for this to be the big success we need to fight back against Walker through the democratic process.

Here are the three things that we need you to do:

1. Commit to at least one shift of a few hours at our phone-bank from Monday, March 28th through Thursday, March 31st. We are running the phone-bank from 4 PM to 9 PM each day at the TAA office (254 W. Gilman St., second floor). To let us know when you can join us this week, fill out this quick online form, and a person from our Political Education Committee will follow up with you.

2. Commit to at least one shift of a few hours (or more!) during “Get Out the Vote” on Saturday, Sunday or Monday. We are running the phone-bank and doing some fliering from 10 AM to 7 PM on Saturday and Sunday, and from noon to 9 PM on Monday. To let us know when you can join us for Get Out the Vote, fill out this quick online form, and a person from our Political Education Committee will follow up with you.

3. Commit to at least a few hours of Get Out the Vote on Election Day, Tuesday, April 5th. To do so, use the same online form as in #2 and we will follow up with you.

We can win these elections. We can send a message. We can reshape Wisconsin politics right here and now. And then we can get back to the recalls on April 6th. But between now and April 5th, it’s all hands on deck to win the spring elections. Get involved and make a big impact — we need you now.
