As part of the TAA’s broader commitment to supporting the most vulnerable and precarious members of our community, we have set up a Mutual Aid Fund (MAF) where graduate student employees can request aid to respond to an urgent financial need. This fund was seeded with contributions from three incredible members who wanted to see the TAA act to relieve immediate financial needs for its members.

INAUGURATED MARCH 21, 2020

FUNDS PROVIDED: $24,185 / 244 GRADS

TOTAL FUNDS RAISED: $24,890

REMAINING FUNDS: $705/ 7 GRADS

Figures updated Aug 3, 2020: 12 Pm

If you are a graduate student at UW–Madison in need of urgent financial support for yourself or your loved ones, related to COVID-19 or otherwise, we urge you to make use of our MAF. Requests will be met on a first-requested, first-served basis. In the spirit of minimizing trauma, unnecessary bureaucracy, and harmful practices of arbitrating among ‘worthy’ and ‘unworthy’ claims, there are no evaluative criteria, and there is no need to ‘justify’ your requests for funds. Please read the FAQ about fund parameters before proceeding, and don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions: https://bit.ly/TAAMAFdetails.
