TAA PAC Endorses Parisi

Madison, WI — On Thursday, the Teaching Assistants’ Association Political Action Committee (TAA PAC) announced an endorsement of Representative Joe Parisi in his campaign to serve as the next Dane County Executive.

Citing his proven track record of progressive advocacy standing up for working families, TAA PAC proudly called upon its members to cast a ballot on April 5th for Parisi.  Said TAA PAC Chair Peter Rickman, a graduate and law student, “Joe Parisi will lead Dane County through difficult times by putting working people and our concerns first.”

Taking on Scott Wallker ally Eileen Bruskewitz, Parisi has put forward an agenda that will protect the Dane County way of life, create good jobs, and protect vital services.  Rickman said “From his tenure as a legislator to his previous service to Dane County, Joe always stands for working folks.  With him as County Executive, we can be sure that local government will work for citizens, workers and taxpayers.  He will be a marked contrast from Scott Walker.”

Backed by a unanimous vote from the General Membership of the TAA ratifying the recommendation of its Political Education Committee, Rickman stated that the TAA PAC endorsement would mean grassroots mobilization to elect Parisi.  “We may not have the money of corporate special interests, but we can organize and mobilize.  We will activate our members to vote for Joe because we know that when citizens organize together, we win.”

In the legislature, Parisi stood against Scott Walker’s attacks on unions and working people.  He has advocated for sound, progressive policy to make Wisconsin work for working people.  “A vote for Parisi is a vote against the extreme Walker agenda,” concluded Rickman.

The Teaching Assistants’ Association, AFT #3220, is the nation’s oldest graduate student worker union, representing nearly 3,000 graduate assistants at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
