Wed 3/12: Come to the Grad Student Diversity Forum/Engagement Session
The Teaching Assistants’ Association (TAA) and the Associated Students of Madison (ASM) will co-host a Graduate Student Diversity Forum and Engagement Session next Wednesday, March 12, 5:30-7 at Memorial Union (TITU). Snacks will be provided to participants.
The goals of the event are:
- to engage graduate students in discussions regarding course and campus-work issues they face or are concerned about related to diversity, inclusion, and equity, and
- to generate some recommendations for
- 1) the Ad-Hoc Diversity Committee based on this feedback to incorporate into their new Diversity Plan (the current draft lacks ANY incorporation of grad students, our needs, or the needs of the students in grad-led classrooms and labs), and
- 2) the TAA to better incorporate related concerns and suggestions into TAA union practices and actions
The Diversity Plan has the potential to impact the way resources are allocated across campus for diversity efforts, so I strongly encourage anyone with opinions to share to participate.
