Want to help, but cannot attend action?
Do you want UW–Madison to remit our fees, but will be out of town during Thursday’s action?[dt_gap height=”10″ /]
The most important way you can take action is by mobilizing your friends and colleagues to show up on Thursday. Talk to people in your department, share news of the event on social media (use the hashtag #RemitNowUW and tag @UWMadison on Twitter), and spread the word in your circles. If you have some time to spare this week, email us and we can provide some resources to help you have effective organizing conversations.[dt_gap height=”10″ /]
Here are a few quick steps you can take: [dt_gap height=”10″ /]
- Talk to your colleagues about the action in person! Tell them why this issue matters to you and encourage them to attend the action. Give them the names of other friends and colleagues who are attending.[dt_gap height=”15″ /]
- Follow / share / like / retweet / otherwise support the TAA on social media! Help amplify our message on Twitter or Facebook. Please also make sure to share the event page for the action with your friends.[dt_gap height=”15″ /]
- Invite your friends and colleagues to the action through email! Here is a fast and easy template you can use for inviting folks to the event:
Hey _____,
Please join grad workers at a Work-In to protest mandatory fees this Thursday, April 26, from 11:30am–3:00pm in Bascom Hall. Show up for as much or as little as you’re able—and bring your grading, hold your office hours, meet your students, crunch your data, or finally type that chapter! The work we do makes this university run and sometimes we need to send a reminder to administration that we work hard and deserve respect as employees.
- During the action, post your story about / frustration with mandatory fees on Facebook or Twitter! Use the hashtag #RemitFeesUW to show our administrators why we deserve to work at the university without mandatory fees. If you are using Twitter, be sure to tag @UWMadison so they see the stories immediately.
