Regular opportunities to get involved
Socials (second Thursdays and final Tuesdays): Come for food, drinks, and comradeship in a casual environment. Library Bar on the 2nd Thursday of every month, or join us and our sibling union UFAS (the union for faculty and academic staff) at Steenbock’s in the Discovery Center on the last Tuesday of the month.
Organizing Meetings (monthly; various times—see dates above or calendar below): The union’s main meeting, open to all members. Meet grad workers and learn what’s going on across campus, join work on the union’s ongoing campaigns, and learn how to stand up for our rights! Also, eat pizza.
Committees: Currently active committees include those for planning social events, political education, supporting international students, and running TAA communications. If you can’t find their next meeting on the calendar below, email taa@taa-madison.org to get plugged in
Department meetings: Many departments hold regular meetings to organize on shop-floor issues. If you don’t know who else in your department/program is in the union, reach out to stewco.chair@taa-madison.org to learn how to find—or build—organizing capacity in your department.
